In the third grade, Mrs. Weller would bribe Emma with the chance to tell a story at the end of every class if Emma promised to stop talking to the other classmates. Now, Emma gets to tell stories nightly at The Comedy Cellar, on Netflix’s: The Comedy Line Up, Comedy Central, and is one of the few comics ever to have multiple appearances on The Late Show with Stephan Colbert. All of which has earned Emma a spot on Caroline’s 10 Funniest Comics, Just For Laughs: New Faces, and TimeOut’s 10 Funniest Women in NYC. Emma’s mom is “really proud of all of this but doesn’t like comedy.”Additionally, Emma is an actor and writer best known for playing the role of Beth on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and also featured on Paramount Plus’s The Good Fight, Judd Apatow’s Crashing, MTV, and TruTV. Emma also has a chart-topping podcast, Inside The Closet and is a regular on The Taylor Strecker Show. Emma tells stories everyday on Instagram and TikTok, several of which have gone viral and earned a total of 450,000 followers (although we’re pretty sure Mrs. Weller isn’t one of them). From peanut butter to porn preferences, Emma loves talking about everything and is known for the unique ability to authentically connect with all types of audiences, even the occasional heckler.Erica Rhodes recently completed a successful run on the 2024 season of America’s Got Talent. She is now touring new material around the country. She has also appeared on ABC’s Modern Family, HBO’s Veep, and Fox's New Girl. She was a regular panelist on Comedy Central’s @midnight and Fox’s Punchline. Her standup TV appearances include: AGT, Late Night with Stephen Colbert, NBC's Bring the Funny, and the CW’s Howie Mandel Comedy Extravaganza. Erica was chosen as a New Face for the 2018 Just for Laughs Festival (Montreal) and performed at the San Francisco Sketchfest, the Moontower Comedy Festival (Austin, TX), the Blue Whale Comedy Festival (Tulsa, OK), the Boston Comedy Festival and Netflix is a Joke fest. Erica starred in the ABC Digital series The Off-Season, was a semi-regular performer/writer on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion, and a recurring character on the Audible series, Dr. Katz: The Audiobook. Her most recent album Ladybug was released in 2023, and her first album Sad Lemon and Ladybug both hit #1 on the iTunes comedy charts. Her one-hour comedy special La Vie en Rhodes was produced as part of the Tribeca Drive-In Fest (at Pasadena’s famous Rose Bowl) and can now be viewed on Amazon Prime. Her Dry Bar special with more than 2 million views on YouTube can also be viewed on Amazon. Erica currently voices the scene-stealing character of “Dotty” in the hit Netflix animation series, A Tale Dark and Grimm. Bring the Funny judge Jeff Foxworthy described Erica as “the best-defined comic voice of the competition." And Sofia Vergara proclaimed Rhodes "the best comedy Act she’s ever seen on AGT."

Join us for a Four-Week Standup Intensive with Clayton Fletcher! Our 4-week course reviews topics including writing skills & stage presence, joke structures, where to find material, and the basics of crafting a set. The course will conclude with a show at West Side Comedy Club, allowing students to perform their 5-minute set in front of a live audience. - Want to work on building your comedy toolbox? Are you looking for meaningful feedback on your material? Or are you interested in getting your start as a standup comic but unsure where to start? Join us for a Four-Week Standup Intensive with Clayton Fletcher! Our 4-week course reviews topics including writing skills & stage presence, joke structures, where to find material, and the basics of crafting a set. The course will conclude with a show at West Side Comedy Club, allowing students to perform their 5-minute set in front of a live audience. Please note: Final Performances are recorded and subject to be used on our social media platforms. Our instructors are all working comics themselves with credits to their name; they can speak directly to the industry as it is today. Clayton Fletcher is one of the Co-Founders of FUNY Standup, in additon to being a NY-based comic with a special, Middle Child Syndrome. Clayton is also the co-author of The ROI of LOL (p. - Join New Yorker Shouts & Murmur contributor Ginny Hogan for a three hour seminar on satire writing. In this class, she'll explain the basic elements of a short satire piece and walk the students through a few of her favorite examples. She'll also review some of the most common mistakes made in the editing/pitching process. Each student will come with several ideas, and together, the class will help each other brainstorm beats for one of them.
