The West Side Comedy Club School Of Comedy is taught by professional working comedian Joe Matarese who has had multiple television deals with major television networks, been on The Late Show with David Letterman multiple times, and has had 2 One Hour Standup Specials.

Joe will help you develop a 5-minute stand-up routine that is original, and in your own unique comedic voice. At the end of this course, you will have the opportunity to perform your set at The West Side Comedy Club with a real live audience.

This class is perfect for a person who has never set foot on stage before, an experienced comedian looking to improve, or someone who just wants to improve their public speaking skills. You will learn from someone who has done everything and seen everything! Joe’s experience and guidance will help you expedite your success! Ages 15-100.

This class will cover:

  • Finding your persona
  • How to obtain a comedy manager
  • How to use the microphone to enhance your performance
  • How to write in your own voice
  • The many styles of writing standup comedy
  • How to get work in the standup comedy industry
  • What mistakes can be avoided easily
  • How to break into the industry in New York City and Los Angeles

Tuition is $350 and includes 3 Monday night classes from 6:00 to 8:30 at The West Side Comedy Club in NYC. It also includes a 30min private one on one session with Joe, and a live performance at the West Side Comedy Club at the end of the course.

Classes are held January through November starting the 1st week of every month. Graduation performances are usually on the Sat following the last class.

To reserve a spot in the class make a non-refundable $50 deposit or pay the class in full. Either option will assure you that you will get a spot in the month that you select to take the class. We only take 15 students maximum each month. The balance of the tuition will be due at the first class.
